Aoife’s approach to designing new pieces is as unique as her creations. “I can be a bit unconventional in how and when I design new pieces,” she explains. Rather than following a rigid schedule, Aoife embraces spontaneity.
“Ideas pop into my head, and that’s when I get to work.” While she does consider seasonal trends—like Valentine’s Day and Christmas—her primary focus remains on creating wearable art.
Inspiration strikes Aoife during her daily adventures in the city. Whether it’s a funky scarf, a striking painting, or even a simple tomato at the grocery shop, these everyday moments feed her creative well. “A collection of little things ruminate in my head until I sit down with a new design,” she elaborates. As a lesbian business owner, Aoife acknowledges that her identity significantly influences her brand. “With all the ‘rainbow capitalism’ during Pride month, I want to offer queer people the option to buy from a queer artist,” she explains. Her commitment to serving the LGBTQ+ community is evident, as she strives to create a welcoming space for everyone, particularly those who resonate with her experiences.
Aoife’s customer base reflects this commitment. “I’ve noticed a lot of my customers at markets are queer-presenting,” she shares, highlighting the warmth and understanding that comes from connecting with like-minded individuals. By actively promoting her identity on social media, she aims to reach more people within the community. “Although my brand is not exclusive to the queer community, I thoroughly appreciate their support and enthusiasm for the jewellery I create,” Aoife adds.

However, she expresses gratitude for her experiences thus far. “I don’t feel I’ve faced issues regarding my business as a woman and a lesbian,” she states. Instead, her challenges stem from the typical hurdles that small business owners encounter, such as visibility and profitability.
“Competing in a market often dominated by men can be daunting, but I’m proud to offer a relatable option for those seeking unique jewellery.” Aoife mentions the importance of representation and the connection she feels with her customers, fostering a community where they can feel seen and appreciated.
Aoife’s journey has equipped her with valuable insights for aspiring entrepreneurs, especially within the LGBTQ+ community. “My best advice is to just do it,” she encourages. “There’s never a perfect time to start anything.” She understands the myriad excuses that can hold one back—time constraints, lack of experience, and fear of judgement are just a few.
“Start very small, with whatever money you can put towards it. Try selling at markets before jumping into a website,” she suggests. Aoife emphasises the importance of beginning with even the smallest idea: “If the idea is in your head, it’s because you’re the exact person who is supposed to bring it to life.”
As the holiday season approaches, Aoife is brimming with excitement for her upcoming Christmas collection. “Christmas is my favourite time of year! And that will definitely reflect in my Christmas collection this year.” Expect to see whimsical pieces featuring sparkly red bows, adorable gingerbread men, and classic mistletoe.
Aoife’s goal is to have something for everyone—whether they prefer studs or bold statement pieces. “There will be an option for gift wrapping on all products,” she adds, acknowledging the importance of gift-giving during the festive season.
